Mission Statement

Tree of Life exists to celebrate Jesus, equip believers, and serve the world.

Vision Statement

To provide a place where people can experience God’s love, discover their purpose, and fulfill their God-given destiny.

Core Values

  • Biblically Based
    • We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is the Christian’s sole authority for both faith and practice. We believe that relevant teaching based on scripture is a powerful mechanism for positive change in the lives of individuals.
  • Atmosphere of Acceptance
    • We believe all people matter to God and ought to matter to the church. We want everyone to experience God’s grace and love.
  • Inspiring Worship
    • We believe that God deserves our worship. We celebrate His goodness together with great music, attention to His Word and devotion to prayer.
  • Youth Ministry
    • We believe ministry to children and teenagers should be given high priority. We are committed to making TOLCF a center for reaching, encouraging, and developing the youth of our area.
  • Discipleship
    • We believe that full devotion to Christ and his cause is normal for every believer. We seek to guide and encourage that devotion with relevant teaching, exciting worship, meaningful fellowship and opportunities for service.
  • Equipping Leaders
    • We believe enabling people to discover and develop their gifts is God’s strategy for changing the world.

History

New London Covenanted Community Church was founded in May, 1977 by Rev. Michael Pacella. New London Covenanted Community Church met in a small church building called "Faith Chapel" in New London, Connecticut from 1977 to 1979. Beginning in 1979, New London Covenanted Community Church met in a number of places. From 1979 to 1980, the church met in the New London home of Warren and Ann Axtell. From 1980 to 1982, the church met in a rented room at the Holiday Inn in New London. The American Legion building in New London served as New London Covenanted Community Church's home from 1982 to 1985. From 1985 to 1987, the New London Methodist Church rented its building to NLCCC. Finally, in 1987, New London Covenanted Community Church purchased its own building and with the new building came a new name-New London Covenant Church. The present church building is located at 122 Colman Street in New London.

In 1997, Rev. Michael Pacella left NLCC to serve as a Chaplain in the United States Army. At this time, Rev. Samuel Spatafore, an Elder in NLCC and Headmaster of Coastline Christian Academy, was installed as Pastor of New London Covenant Church. Recently, in January, 2001, New London Covenant Church changed its name to Tree of Life Christian Fellowship.
